The blooms are brilliant red and really stand out. The foilage is also attractive with light green kidney shaped leaflets, appearing in pairs. This particular variety grows approximately six to seven feet and is always in bloom. For those interested in bright colours, this is a must. The flowers open 9 to 10 months out of the year (often resting in midwinter) and remain for 6 to 8 weeks, their unusual form and bold color attracting attention despite the plant's small stature. 1 to 2 inches across, these blooms offer a nice foil to the soft green leaves of this 10 to 14-inch-high tree. Outdoors, the flowers are butterfly magnets, their nectar attracting many winged visitors.
nilesh.gawdehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02180281159970902483noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29244092.post-76241582744402927212011-10-04T04:56:00.001-07:002011-10-04T04:56:27.891-07:00life find its way in monsoon

life find its way in monsoon, originally uploaded by nilesh.gawde.

nilesh.gawdehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02180281159970902483noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29244092.post-56049438536494036472011-09-30T02:13:00.001-07:002011-09-30T02:13:13.842-07:00fonda ghat in rains

fonda ghat in rains, originally uploaded by nilesh.gawde.

Taken in Fonda ghat, while going to konkan this ganapati. All photos are taken with film camera Nikon F55 and Nikkor 28-80 kit lens.
The village is exactly at the backwaters of Vaitarna dam, near nashik. By road one can reach this village, from Trimbakeshwar. From Mumbai-Agra highway, near ghoti, one has to cross the Vatiarna Dam on a raft and then one can reach this village. Before construction of Vaitarna Dam, this village was the main Market place. After the Dam was built the market place was shifted to Ghoti and all the development in this region was stopped. My friend , who is in the business of Outdoor advertising in Nashik, purchased a farm land in this village. The photos are taken from her Farm Land. After she started developing the farm, she did rigorous with the government authorities and some developments were done in the village, including a good Tar Road, ST Bus was started to this village after more than 12 years.

I am sharing few photos from this location. please provide your comments.

I am starting a section where, I'll post some photography assignments. I'll post one theme, based on which you have to submit your photographs. All photographs submitted in this assignment, will remain your ownership. Others can comment on those. One can also submit URL to the Photopage.

The first assignment in this series is GOLDEN RATIO.

Golden ratio is one of the rules of composition. At least since the Renaissance, many artists and architects have proportioned their works to approximate the golden ratio—especially in the form of the golden rectangle, in which the ratio of the longer side to the shorter is the golden ratio—believing this proportion to be aesthetically pleasing. Mathematicians have studied the golden ratio because of its unique and interesting properties.

Loosely related to the rule of thirds is the Golden Ratio also referenced to the Golden Rectangle. The shape of the Golden Ratio in physical form is supposed to be considered very esthetically pleasing to humans. One of the most interesting graphic forms of the Golden Ratio is the nautilus shell and the way the shell starts from a central origin and then spirals outward around itself until it reaches the horn or opening of the shell where the cephalopod's head is located.

For understanding and inspiration you can check here on Google image search.

To start the topic, here is my submission.

I was in my native for one week but we couldn't go out anywhere due to heavy rains in Konkan. On thursday, rains took some halt and we finally decided to go to Tarkarli Beach which is around 25KMs from my home.

Tarkarli Beach is next to Malvan, Sindhudurga. You have to take left turn from the Malvan bus stand and its around 6 KM from there. Its a beautiful beach with white soft sand. You just cannot enjoy it in one day.
Government of Maharashtra and MTDC has started lot of tourism activities such as snorkelling, scuba diving on this beach to promote tourism. This is a very safe beach and one can even see dolfins, if you are lucky.
